Rosetta nixed from Lion
This news is likely to have implications for plug-in developers.

Re: Rosetta nixed from Lion
Maybe ASW will update RL for iOS and Mac App Store.
I notice that there's nothing in the Mac App Store from ASW yet at all.
EDITED TO ADD:
ASW has a blog post saying to except M.A.S. related announcements soon.

I guess I should really know this, but are the Tool Chest apps running in Rosetta?djpimley wrote:likely to have implications for plug-in developers.

Re: Rosetta nixed from Lion
And, unfortunately they were done in CodeWarrior and not XCode, so they can't just be recompiled with a different switch.
Re: Rosetta nixed from Lion
Redline will not work on Lion 10.7. I just installed the brand new OS on the MacBook and the game close with -5000 error.

Hmmm, it will be interesting to see what ASW does. Presumably this would not be an easy fix...DonaemouS wrote:CONFIRMED!

Well, that's it for me + Redline, then...

ps - someone better speak up if they want the crap I've developed; once Lion is out, it'll all be going in the trash.

Re: Rosetta nixed from Lion
I wonder if its a straightforward issue of the app location. According to this page -5000 is an "access denied, Incorrect access for this file/folder" error. So maybe you just didn't set up the RL folder in the right place Don?
EDIT:
Wait, that page is for OS9 error codes. Can't seem to find a list for 10.6, but various pages refer to -5000 as being an access denied, file/folder permissions type error. Suggests it might still be caused by the folder being in a location where the system is unable to write a file...?

Re: Rosetta nixed from Lion
given the insane number of daily races going on i dont think this issue really is an issue.
If it runs under lion (which is confirmed by asw) it just runs theoretically as long as we all hide instead of racing
so - we ll find out in summer. i dont see a software-related problem with Redline right now...

This is the error window I get. I'm now trying to check if there is my fault or not, stay tuned!
Re: Rosetta nixed from Lion
Ok, I removed all preferences from the library (now the library is an hided folder) and it works. I suppose something went wrong during the 50 minutes installation.
EDIT: I just discovered the MacOS X 10.7 installation messed up Privileges for the Applications. After creating a new user "B", certain applications installed with the user "A" are blocked, and you can't lunch them.
From what I see, they are all the Applications installed with drag and drop.

Re: Rosetta nixed from Lion
So, Don, how much do you charge for access to that vintage G4?

Re: Rosetta nixed from Lion
i just checked the toolchest, and they are all PowerPC applications, and can't work. All the other Redline's third party applications works, as dot car, rlplist, map viewer, plug-in splitter.
