On googlemapsmania I found this funny MAP OF THE WEEK

"Vodafone Hometown GP builds a 3D racetrack based on your personally designed track and then lets you race against the clock on your very own creation."

With this I created a kind of Mugello within 2 minutes cheers Here is the result:

http://racing.vodafone.com/hometown/en-gb/?vfgpt=VkZHUF8yMzgx

Use FIREFOX - it works. My Safari seems not to like it - track creation with it didn't work and using an existing track was not fluid.

I played a little bit with this toy. The most impressive thing is the use of the elevation data. If they are quite good the results are quite interesting also, even lakes and oceans are generated rudimentary.

Some very hilly track - "made" in 2 minutes - along a lake in Sitzerland: http://racing.vodafone.com/hometown/en-gb/?vfgpt=VkZHUF8yNDk1

Don't use Safari if you want to try it.

10.6.4 and Safari 5.0.2 and it works. Well, apart from a shoddy frame rate...

I had the same experience - works a lot smoother with Firefox 3.5.7, apart from occasional crashes and me being unable to send e-mails to myself or access facebook...

Safari can play a finished track with bad fps but can't create a new one.

You have to register to be able to send an email after you have finished the race on the track you created.

BUT: I have some very strange appearance since today - kind of mysterious:
After sending the track to my email adress my mail software (Mail) shows the mail for about half a second and then: IT'S GONE. Trash and spam box are empty and the mail is undiscoverable ... Suspect

Is it filtered by my mail provider as spam?? If so, could I see a pre-filtered mail for half a second?

You mail is filtered for sure by providers - but that's not what you see.
Mails are filtered Serverside, wich means if Spam comes in its either deleted or in your Spam-Folder (tried through webmail if available).

If you see it and then its gone it could be a rule of Mail.app. Or some filter software (virusscanner or such stuff).
If you see other mails at this account coming in normally, my tip is some filter software running locally (at your computer).

You could try to find the Email (eg. sender or Subject, or whatever ) via Spotlight.

Yes I am sure my mails are pre filtered - my provider is t-online.

I didn't changed any rules in my mail since yesterday and I didn't marked a previous mail containing a track from yesterday as spam.

Neither a search inside mail nor by spotlight shows me one of the mails I saw for half a second immediately after sending them from this track side.

I am confused.

Next time you make a track, fetch your email by logging in to your ISP's webmail service (almost all offer one).

There is also no mail visible.

I have an IMAP account and repeated it today: Same thing.

I sent the mail from the track site, my mail software shows the recieving of 1 mail, the mail is listed for half a second in my inbox and then: Gone. Trash and spam folders are empty. I am perplexed.

3 possibilities left imo.

- Recreate Mailbox (if mail is not on the server anymore - not needed).
- Check for other devices accessing your mail (iPhone, iPad)
- Change your password and try again (to have any fisher locked out).

see also apples note

Do you normally see spam emails in the spam folder? Sounds to me like its being flagged as spam, sent to a folder where it is then instantly deleted. I don't use Mail, so I don't know where prefs are for how spam is treated, but thats where I'd be looking for the answer.

Normally I see the mails in my spam folder and deleted spam is visible in the trash. On other devices these mails just didn't arrived (so no appearance for half a second like on my MBP)

Anyway - today I tested it again and all mails from this track site arrived like on the first day. Maybe there was a problem on this vodafone racing site or server.
