While browsing through the videos of the All Things Digital conference (which just ended/is still ongoing?), I found this clip from the D1, where Mr. Jobs talks about the iPod and while it is not practical to have an internet connection or a music store on it... check around the 4:00 mark.

Given what we have today, well, since a couple of years actually with the iPhone/iPod touch, they appear to have found a way...
Going a bit further into the clip, they are also discussing the possibility for Apple to introduce a tablet device or a cell phone. Steve responds by saying that people want a keyboard, handwriting recognition is too slow and that only very rich guys could afford such a device.
