That would be nice if other drivers could do some tests too.
I'll see what I can do on Bardagi and Silverstone later in the evening (the sun is so shiny here I won't spend my day inside Cool ).

Oh ! and thank you for not posting absolute times, I feel a bit faster Arrow

Thanks again for the great work.
I feel there is still some power to be found in that V8 of the XLR. Cams, compression, porting... and a raise of the rev limit.... let me see...

well, before any release, I would to test the .car in advance. Just cause I don't think this car is the slowest of the pack. But, what is terrifying is the difference through Silverstone. Could you pls give me your reference time?

I am not sure its the slowest.
Its the fastest given top speed. It was prooven yesterday in a mp-race in brooklands oval - caddy rocked!
Reference time for Arena is 2:17.77 with the cadillac. I cant get it any faster - but - as mentioned many times... it might be me.
before we go to release 1.0ers, we need to be sure those discussing here share the opinion on equality of cars.
imo - we are really really close to it.

I think they're close too, each with its strengthes and weaknesses.
I made the 350z's suspensions a bit harder. Now it's not that easy on curbs and it lands better on High Speed Jumper ;-)
I can release a v0.5 this evening ?

I checked the power output vs weight of the XLR... it's already on the limit of 3.2 kg/hp (or actually slightly below). So I'm more thinking the lines of shorter overall gearbox, which should help in acceleration but will lower the top speed.

I have a modified version of the Caddy on my HD, but Don said he wants to do some tests...
I also changed the 968 slightly to bring it closer to the pack.

The question is: was it too much (same for the Caddy) or is it even noticeable?
Ok, so here we go, the 968

Thank you very much Tomte.
The car behaves about the same - this is great.

But its too fast imo.
Tested it on all 4 tracks i tried the other cars too in TimeTrial.
Results on Porsche 0.3:
Bardagi: i could not go faster with it. its strange but true
Imola: Best time ever in lap 1: 1.28 seconds faster than any of the other times i got there - wow!
Arena Silverstone: Same time as the nissan (old version was tested though) - faster than the rest for me
Watkins Glen: Best time ever in lap 4: 0.66 Seconds in front of the nissan

too fast right? sry to tell. Neutral

I ll have to test the nissan 0.5 to compare times there too...

thanks again,

Thanks for the test, Alphonse. I was wondering if I overdid it. But no worries, slowing it down won't be a big issue. I'm only working on engine and gearbox now, I don't touch the handling at all. I will release an updated 968 shortly. Well, probably tomorrow.

Ok, in first I experienced your feels about Silverstone Arena. The Caddy looks like heavy on that track, but is very strange. I suppose mainly if due to my side. Is not a track I'm used to play with.

The new release of the Caddy (the build 0.3) is fantastic. The XLR has not lost her nature, but acquired more power out of the corner. She is not the faster of the pack, yet. But I love it!

About the other of the pack. I had a try to Silverstone (not Arena). The BMW M Coupe is my favorite, without any doubt. She was even the faster with which I got the quicker lap, compared with the sisters.

Imho, the Nissan 350z is the one with the better suspensions. You can play "dirty" with this car, and she will forgive somebody for inaccuracy. The Porsche 968 is a new beast, compared with my experience with the GT3 edition. She understeer as hell, but is her nature, but you feel a lot of power from the engine. Is very fast, but not easy to drive. In last, but not last, the BMW Z4. She has a tons of traction on rear wheels. it will be certain useful for the slowest track, cause you can kick down the pedal early.

I didn't find a car faster then others. Yes, surely one is, but not without compromises. Tomte, created a new class that has nothing to begrudge to the TCC.

Ok, thanks Don.
Up in the first post are the new betas
Cadillac XLR GT4 v0.3
Porsche 968 GT4 v0.4

Mods to the Caddy: less power at slightly higher revs, more torque at higher revs, shorter gearbox.
Mods to the 968: less power at slightly higher revs, same gearbox as v0.3 (which was shorter than v0.2).

BTW, if you feel the v0.2 of the 968 was the best fit, we can stick with that.

Just a reminder... all the times I saw here are in the dry... did anyone look at the cars in the wet? Because the permanent understeer of some cars or the tail happiness of others might be an issue Twisted Evil

Only made a quick test of 3 laps on Limerock under rain with each car and ended up with all cars in the same second (1:01:xx). I'm sure I can do better and then some cars could be able to go much under that than others, but I have no more time at the moment.

I noticed the 350z is harder to drive with rain, probably because of its narrow tires. Can someone do some serious tests with rain ?

Thanks for the work again.

I will test all cars and one track in rain (any suggestions?). This takes me about 2 hours.
I doubt it will be doable today. Looks good over the weekend...

Ha, I didn't think you would put so much effort into testing in the rain, it was more a remark because I remembered the issues we had with the GT3 cars Smile

I hope I don't need to retouch the handling because the cars don't behave in the rain. But if snail didn't have any issues, I think we will be good.

What I would like you to verify is that the cars equally tackle the bumps, that they have enough ground clearance. We had some issues with that with the GT3s on Thruxton. You don't need to tell if one car works better or worse off-track/on the kerns. There need to rest some areas to discover for the tournament participants.

Just let me know if one car doesn't work at all.

Well, even the real cars, have different setups for wet and dry. We can't think to have the same dry setup for play in Redline Rain env. And is crazy think to release a double GT4 each car edition. So, if will turn to rain, we'll show our best to lead the pack!

Yesterday I hosted several races with rain. Nobody seemed to complain, and some even liked it and had fun (I did ! snail weather, you know) Twisted Evil

About ground clearance, if I remember well the 350z is set to its real level. It scrapes the tarmac on high curbs and jumps but I guess it's normal.
