Not the best way to find out. Razz

A few cars suffer from non-functional hand brakes (the bug) but GT cars not having one is new knowledge to me. Nice attention to detail!

I would ask for an overall approval for a new Porsche 997 GT3 update. The update we working on, is to get back in tournament the 997 and Leo chances to compete with the other players.

Naturally, DANDY, as plugin creator, should agree and also the GT3 Tournament Supervisors. As Porsche Team, we agree for the update and we have nothing against. Our "cousin" 997 should have at least the 968 pace in race.

We aim to have an unique update in time to Mountainside. I know we have just 3 days for the release, for the approval and for practice. We can do that.

So, pls, post your feels quickly... thx Neutral

As belonging to the Porsche-family myself i do understand the intention and feel like its a good idea.
As being very involved to the tournament i do have some bad feelings about it:
1) Is it proven that the 997 is much slower than the rest? Not for me, to be honest.
2) If we speed up the 997, do we slow down the Lambo and - most of all - the Ferrari?

As i have learned to become a fan of "not changing rules" not a last due to your posts Don its tricky to find a solution that is really acceptable - isn't it?

We already checked a no advantage of the Ferraris through mountainside. Yes, we should, but we can't rerelease all cars, we need too much time and is too much complex. But, the Porsche, before the latest update, was really compelling. So, I thought she deserved, as benchmarks, to be update and get back into the competition.

Yes, is very, very ironically I am now here, asking for an update. Yes, the new release will go in conflict to the lock-down date rule. But the changes will not brake the standard Redline GT3 rules. So, if the real teams can update their cars, we may do the same here.

Also, I'm playing with the 968, not the 997. Having a faster 997 is not a good thing for me, but...

Results of my test at Mountainside Reverse with rain (more or less precise)

Porsche 968 GT3: 1:14'50
Gallardo GT3: 1:14'41
Porsche 997: 1:16'low (screenshot went black, I don't remember the exact time. sry)
Mustang FR500: 1:15'46
Jaguar XKR GT3: 1:17'01
F430 GT3: 1:16'98
Vanquish: 1:16'4
Corvette: 1:16'34 (very problematic)

Conclusion: The 997 is well controllable and it isn't as slow in comparison to the rest of the pack as at Donington (at least 1 sec slower than the others) here at Mountainside R, but it can't keep up with the fast cars either.
...until the drivers of the faster cars get into trouble which actually seems more likely than with the 997!
Overall I still think that it's too slow, as I already said before the tournament began Rolling Eyes

Again, none of my darn beeswax but talk about a paradox. Don not wanting to change rules... but now changing darn car physics!
Car was what it was.... people chose it for a reason. That's the whole point in cars being different no? And the whole point of testing cars and choosing well? Your gonna raise such a stink if you do this and the car starts winning. Watch out of riots and bitter frustration from people who come in behind the 997 is you make this change.

I think we've got to live with the situation we're in. It appears that we started the tournament with a greater than ideal difference in the car's performances, but to change them now is going to undermine the tournament as a whole.

The pressure of the race itself will equalize some of the differences, and over 40 minutes of driving the final result will depend to a large extent on who makes the fewest mistakes, not just on raw "speed" of the car. Cars should be racing in tighter bunches this time too, now that we're going to be running with a pack of more similar drivers than some of us were in race 1.

Even though I'm suffering from picking the 997 I vote for no change.

I had hoped that we would have a 'change this, change that' thread to bring the cars in line with each other before any tournament, but alas.

i do appreciate don's concerns and do understand where he's coming from, but i must agree to not change the car "now". i think it would undermine the tourney and like SF said, may cause some serious rioting if the 997 becomes successful. perhaps after the tourney is over and dandy wishes to add a few more ponies and/or lift the limiters a lil bit (please please please) then by all means, for i also feel the 997 is the slowest of the pack. that being said though, i didn't pick the 997 because she's the fastest or easiest to drive, but because she's the most "fun" (imho) with the lambo and 968 close behind. i've lost the hunger and need for winning long since the 1st (technically 2nd) RRL, im here to just have fun, enjoy myself away from REAL life, and spend the time with some fine and filthy bastages like yourselves ... winning, is just a bonus that happens sometimes pirat

pirat

That's 2 out of the 3 997 drivers in the series, saying things are ok the way they are.

Are we done here?

ok, the case is closed for me. I read the DANDY's post. No further works are needed, and sorry for my debate. If the 997 is the bench, as I think, it is. Then the rest of us need to be tweaked again. Now, we are too late to do that.

So, prepare yourself for the next race...
