Canadian Grand Prix

A whole grand prix story told in emoticons, very creative dj...

It was an exercise in frustration for me. I watched the first 7 laps live and then had to go coach my son's semi-final footie, so I set the DVR to tape it. Came back about 3 hours later, carefully avoided seeing the result online and began watching the recording, skipping the ads but watching everything, reaching lap 25 when the rain started in earnest and going all the way to the end of the 2hr recording and saw that the race didn't restart in that time. Having no recording left I checked the result online and found that if I had gone live immediately I could have watched the last 5 or 10 laps of the actual race live. F&*K!

No rerun for me to watch either.

I had a bet with my friend on 5 safety car showups.

I won.

Great news. The rest was between boring and fun. Must be impressive to race in rain when you get just wet.
I love redline. If it really rains, i am covered on the balcony. If it rains in races, its just pixels

Darn, sorry you missed it, Pax. The last couple of races have been really great and I'm actually excited to see the next - makes a change after the dull as dishwater noughties.

Now we will never know whether Vettel could have defended his position to the finish line if he wouldn't have made his mistake.

Alonso's stuck on top of the curb was quite funny.

Another great one today. Racers spinning on the track and in the pit lane, wheel to wheel racing, exploding cars. Crazy stuff.

I still have to figure out what's fun about storming past your opponent artificially instead of putting in some real work to get past though...

I agree with Alphonse. There's nothing artificial about timing the move right and making the overtake stick without overcooking the next turn. There's plenty of skill involved and it means more exciting races for us.

I'm still not sure about the DRS. It seems like there are some tracks where it makes a mockery of passing skills, because it provides too great an advantage, giving a guaranteed pass every lap; on others it gives just enough to prevent a slower driver blocking for lap after lap (see Alonso's last race last year).

Has anyone heard anything from Lewis about his decision to put on another set of supersoft when the others went to soft? That single decision cost him the race. He still seems to be prone to making bad decisions at key moments...

Does look to me as if McLaren will win most of the remaining races, but Vettel is way to far off to be caught.

DRS is like diving into an extreme slipstream. So it isn't a complete unnatural thing.
