Volvo 240 GL vs. 960
Sadly several major things went out at the same time on my '86 240GL, and therefore it is sitting at the shop awaiting a decision on a repair bill greater than the cars value. In the mean time though, my grandfather has loaned me his much newer Volvo 960. My grandfather is too old to drive so this spotless beauty has spent most of its life in his garage. If we decide not to fix the 240, my grandfather says I can keep the 960. Anyway, the answer would be easy, if everything was that simple, but with insurance and fuel to take into consideration.... It will all have to be worked out by the end of the week, but in the meantime I'm gunna have some fun with this 960

Nice! Did Grandpa stop driving it when he hit the pole with the front bumper? ;-) What's to think about? Free car, and nice? How many miles/kilometres on it?GUMMY BEAR wrote:Sadly several major things went out at the same time on my '86 240GL, and therefore it is sitting at the shop awaiting a decision on a repair bill greater than the cars value. Re: Volvo 240 GL vs. 960
The scrape on the front bumper is from my grandma, who also no longer drives. She bumped into a gaurd rail while parking it. There are only about 80 thousand miles on it, which isnt that much as far as Volvos go. Ive got over 300 thousand on my 240. Anyway, The biggest concern is insurance, which at my age can be pretty expensive. Its like nothing to insure my 240, but the 960 would be a bit more. I'm deffinitely taking the 960 of to college with me in a year, but between now and then... thats what im not sure about yet. I mean thered nothing really that wrong with the 240, and if it gets fixed itll probably go for another hundred thousand. Anyhow...

Thanks, I like my neighborhood too. The car in the back ground is the Cadillac I posted over on ASW, which belongs to an elderly widow living in the blue house across the street from me. As I said over earlier, since I've lived in the neighborhood I think I've only seen it out of her garage once or twice. Seeing as its spend the last week or so out on the street, I think she's preparing her garage for the neighborhood garage sale.
