Yikes, a split in the rubber. That can be dangerous. elephant

Pinch it back into shape and carefully apply some gaffer tape to hold it in place, keep it on for a few days until the rubber retains its original shape...?

*cough* sorry leo, couldn't resist. The non-Americans probably didn't get the rubber joke anyway (check definition 16)...

If its not split then dj is probably right, you might be able to massage it back into a cylindrical shape. If that doesn't work you might try laying something compressible over that bit to build it up to the same height as the rest of the seal.

Heat gun or nothing I think. With a serious pinch like that it'll probably never be right. Check wreckers or new replacement - can't be that expensive or hard to pull the trunk off? You don't want to kludge where water's involved.
EDIT: Come to think of it, that's probably not an endless piece - just pull out, snap in, maybe some glue...easy.

Unrelated advice for the day - don't park under a tall Black Walnut tree in autumn.
