I am considering getting the cheapest Microsoft laptop as a game console...I could run rFactor, this one and other 1000 games...find some of the old friends and not burn my mac...

You have a valid point - less than a year after the mainboard swap, my Mac seems to start lagging in Redline again after half an hour, despite a manually turned up (to 6200 rpm) fan rpm and graphics settings that are a fair bit off the maximum. I'm out of warranty by now...

Dunno what the future will bring - I can't afford a new computer right now, especially if it's just for playing. But hey, I still have one project in the pipe for Redline, nearing the release quickly - tires may be destroyed by it.

A Mac Book I guess?
I bought the mStand by Rain Design a few day ago and use it with wireless mouse and keyboard. This is a cool thing. It's much more ergonomic and - last but not least - CPU temperature is 5 to 10 °C lower so the fan run at 2000 rpm and max. 70 °C CPU temperature when I run Redline. Standing on my desk CPU temperature was 80 °C and fan rotation 3500 rpm or so (with Redline).

Indeedy. Damn, that stand looks really nice. How well does it actually hold the Macbook? All external keyboards and mice I use have cords - some movement might happen every now or then.

Perfect hold, it's vibrating a bit when you touch the Book. I guess a mouse cord can't cause a vibration. Also using the Book's trackpad from time to time (it's non-ergonomic then) causes a minimal vibration only.
