I can't find the clip right now, but there was this rally clip of a Mitsubishi Lancer doing a similar maneuver, but on a very narrow rally road. The car was already backwards when going through a left 6 into hairpin right, and ended up brushing the hedges along the way, neatly facing the right direction out of the hairpin.

That was Gigi Galli in an Evo VI, but as 4WD allows much larger drifting angles I have to deem Kawabata's drift in the RWD Nissan the harder and better one as amazingly, he didn't lose control when he went beyond 90°.
