do you guys prefer avatars and info on the left of the forums, or on the right? (as it is now)
Re: Under Construction

Votings? Where are the buttons?
Right is cool somehow, but left is easier to read.

Re: Under Construction
Smack dab in the middle, with writing split on either side. Only replace the avatars with adz.
Re: Under Construction
just wondering which side people prefer ... i think without enough complaints, right it is.
ps. playing with colors is fun ... how's the blue?

Re: Under Construction
I prefer member info/avatars on the left. usually books or sheets of paper have their margin on the left and the writing goes all the way to the right of the page. This just looks more normal and natural to me.

Buttons
Can we have the old buttons back for 'reply' and 'quote'? I liked them. Or something similar. The current buttons are way too square.

Re: Under Construction
as far as the side of the profile and avatar i think right is "right" and weird and not normal, thus it works for legacy
for the buttons i had to use these for the other ones were strangely cutting into the text and laying some ugly shadows. it was a quick replacement to fix an annoying problem. the site will go through many display changes as it finds its niche. hopefully, when i have some free time this weekend i will hunt down some flashy buttons and icons on the web and instill them here.
keep the comments coming, don't be shy

Re: Under Construction
Sorry for the squarish buttons Tomte, had not noticed your comment on not liking square and had not seen the others before the bland grey ones. I just made these color coordinate the legacy banner when I saw leo's post saying he would search the web to find buttons.

Post-Text in Email
I absolutely have the feeling that this forum has good chances. It works pretty well and the community starts using it, as the last two days proove...
One thing i really like on the ambrosiasw-forum is, that the post is in prosa available in the email sent if you enable this feature in the profile...
i just found some hints on phpBB.com (http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=599639 or http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=329290 ). No worries at the moment - but once there is a mod for the software available, it would be an addon i would really think is useful...

Re: Under Construction
Im in the same time zone as you leo, and yet, now 12:37pm forum clock shows it's 6.37 pm
man, that's on the other side of the world almost! Is it possible for you to change the time displayed, and since we are a global community perhaps setting the forum clock to UTC might work well for everyone?

Re: Under Construction
thats odd ... it is set for UTC, and if im not mistake each user in their profile settings has the ability to adjust to their own timezone, hmm
Re: Under Construction
Indeed and that's great 'cause I know if a post has been made 5 mins ago or 5 hours ago.leoantix wrote:thats odd ... it is set for UTC, and if im not mistake each user in their profile settings has the ability to adjust to their own timezone, hmm

Re: Under Construction
indeed, you can change the forum timezone, but if you had another timezone in the preferences, then will don't work for you.leoantix wrote:thats odd ... it is set for UTC, and if im not mistake each user in their profile settings has the ability to adjust to their own timezone, hmm

Ok OK.. so it's on my user profile that I must state MY timezone. Will look into that.
SF
EDIT: ok, just changed my time zone and it all makes sense now!
Re: Under Construction
glad it's now working for yea SF
as far as adding the extra feature to have the entire post in email as alf had mentioned ... i have yet to figure out how to add the extension onto the forums. there doesn't seem to be access to it via the given web panels here and its admin controls. i'll try to scan the help forums here and see if i get lucky
on a side note ... added two more fields in the avatar section, favorite redline cars and tracks ... fill 'em up!

Re: Under Construction
unfortunately it looks like no to expanded emails ... this is what i found on the help forum, last option SUCKS!
ill try to email a moderator or administrator and see if they can MOD the forum themselves
- Code:
Here are things which cannot be done on Forumotions:
- control the messages before they are shown on the forum.
- remove, move or modify the default avatars in your galleries. You can only disable them.
- get a sql backup of the forum database to export it. You can't import a non-forumotion board either.
- attach files to the emails sent via your forum.
- install a skin directly.
- install a MOD directly.
