Mating Hippos
This is not much of hot spot other than it occured this morning and involved a couple of dopey SUV's. To say people here have no experience driving in snow is an understatement. Was also the first time I have ever driven in snow, no issues for me, kinda like driving in sand, it was fun.

I know most of you will laugh at this amount of snow but his was the first measurable snow in Monterey California in more than 40 YEARS!

Yay, silver-grey SUV's, excactly what the world needs.
I'd call that road mildly moist.

The winter here has been crazy so far. During the last two weeks have seen almost daily fluctuations of ~20-25°C - from -12°C one day and 15°C the next.

Oh no, I don't laugh. I suppose the snow in Californa is like the snow in Rome, an extraordinary event. By the way, Tomte got it. 2 grey SUVs. Perhaps also drove by 2 wifes?

I count 2 grey SUVs, a gray-brownish Land Cruiser/Lexus, a grey Nissan, a greyish Scion, a greyish people carrier. What is that with all these people buying grey cars? Yes, I'm looking at your SF

I've been buying grey metallic paint cars for 20 yearsl Really shitty weather in quebec. And cars look filthy all the time. So it's this color, where nothing shows, washing or washing it once or twice a week.
SF
p.s. I take pride in proper administration of my laziness.

Grey is the new Champagne
Blew up the photo and tried to divine what was what: Don't think the little grey one is a Prius, might be a Scion, but the emblem looks to be some sort of econo Suzuki.
Could not identify any of the hippos by sight, or name plate, and I could not bring myself to bother with them. What are there, about a hundred different SUV's on the market now?
The Greyish people carrier is actually a food service delivery truck, a Semi.
The one coming up the hill is a Honda Element.
There's also a little red compact behind the semi.
The Nissan is mine, 2004 Maxima SE. Grey, cause like SF it's easiest to avoid excessive cleaning.
Overall I'd say SUV's are finally beginning to decline in popularity, Especially the Ford, Chevy, and Chryslers. Though in the rich neighborhoods, I still see lot's of Lexus', Porsches, and Range Rovers. Most of these guys lease them and are prolly waiting for them to run out. Can't see the "elite" driving Prius' as they don't project power (owner's power not the car) enough, so I expect to see even more 7 and 9 series BMW's and bloated Mercedes and Cadilacs in Champagne.

Re: hot "spot"
Ok, let's get anal:
the SUV on the left is a Nissan Murano, first generation
to the right, a Lexus RX, scond generation
to the right: Toyota LandCruiser 100 or maybe a Lexus LX
I can see a greyish-blue people carrier at the lights.

Cobra? Is that European only? The financial crisis is nonexistent as long as gas prices are good.

Re: hot "spot"
Don, when you first posted your fuzzy photos of the R8, I wondered why would he bother snapping shots of an Audi street car? I have always admired the Audi A4, especially the 98-2002 versions, but was never impressed by the looks of the later A series models. I just assumed you were looking at the new sedan A,B,C 8 or whatever they call them now.
Today that changed for me, Now I get it. While at work today on a small street I saw a low black car approaching from a couple hundred meters away. Nothing unusual in this particular rich neighborhood, but there were these odd white running lights below and around the headlights. As he came closer I noticed the Audi grill. Ok, this is different; I still did not know what I was looking at as it putted past me. I did not mind the driver (with the obligatory douchetooth in his ear) not deigning to look at me because I was completely taken with the beauty of this cars body design. As he poop pooped away I saw the R8 on the rear. I then realized this is what Don is on about!
This thing makes the Ferrari 430 look frumpy, I hope the owner is a local as next time I'll have the Iphone at the ready. I'm on it now.

well, we are quite used to see these full_of_power cars in every game, but how much used are we when they pass near us in real life.
The first time i heard the R8 engine sound i was quite impressed. She is a rocket, she sound like a Ferrari F430, she has (imho) better design (if you dont choose the grey fade...).
Now, I have a new picture but, this time is not a gorgeous supercars... I don't know how they called in english, but is a "blue car" (directly from italian Auto Blue). These cars are given to politicians/magistrates. They are bought and maintained with citizen moneys. Look how smart is italian government:

Also this car has about 6 months. A 5 litres petrol BMW series 7... An executive town car of 11l/100km! Now, why they buy german cars instead buy diesel engine icons like Lancia Thesis, Alfa Romeo 159?
money wasting...
