Me too. I have a Bluetooth Mighty Mouse that I "acquired" when it was left behind in our office by a visitor who never returned. I like the freedom of no wires a lot, don't have any latency problems, but the damn scroll wheel... arrrrgghh! I will take a trip to my Mac store next week and play with a Magic Mouse. Smile

I just tried to price components to an Intel box to match the Core i5 iMac from a very reasonable local shop. To be fair, I chose a decent ($200) case, a 27" Samsung comes to $905, and generally mid-level parts as Apple tends to use (Kingston RAM, Seagate drive, ASUS board...), and I was $100 over the iMac sticker with only the main guts, before adding any Keyboard, mouse, BT or Wifi. So much for Macs being expensive.

Alas, the i5 does not appear to be much of an improvement over the last version:

On the other hand the i7, with a snazzy ATI 4850 for $300 more, mmmm.

If i am not mistaken, the "New iMac 3.06 GHz" is still a CORE 2 Duo processor. No wonder its not really faster for some overclocking.

I did not yet see many benchmarking of Nehalem quad-core-machines (i5 or i7).
On the i7 you have eight virtual cores - which will - for apps that already can be brought to use it - increase the performance.

One benchmark can be found here (german) another testing available here- but its hard to know exactly what they have done - i tend to invest much time on reading benchmark testings as there are so many variables to take care of to know what it means Wink

sometimes some marketing fuzzies are doing a great job at apple as the "performance" suggests:

anyway - pretty sure they are fast Wink

Indeed, it's like the specification of gasoline consumption of car manufacturers: Kind of impossible to reach it in reality except if you are rolling along flat & empty streets without turns ...

But the 27" iMac is really a fantastic one. And I never expected a transfer of multitouch technology onto a convex mouse surface. Apple rules.
