It appears that you can select maybe one thing for it to host. I haven't downloaded any other content (cars or tracks), there's just the stuff that came with the 1 gig rF setup download.

Can the content/location be set, or would I have to physically be here in front of this computer to do so?

I don't see it at the racecast web page.. I do have the 6 ports forwarded to the Dell, which I've given a static IP address. I'll have another look at the server setup..

edit again: heh, maybe putting a check in the "racecast" box..?? Nope, that didn't work either. Any ideas?

edit - the rF firewall manual suggests some different ports - I'll try those. And I need to check XP's firewall, although I'm pretty sure I set an exception for rFactor.

Good call, found that doc... not seeing the server though. I'll take a stab on my side to see if I can't figure some of it out.

WOO! Nice going, I see it bounce

Got an error loading up, but it appears to be a conflict on my end with a pace car file silent

I'm wondering if you had any special tricks, I can see my game locally, but it doesn't show up on a Server Spy app I've got..it's called DANDY Racing 1, might take a bunch of refreshes if it's going to show up at all, password: turbunny

EDIT: My error joining you is due to my culling of most built-in content....

i dont know......now my cars are black. haha. All the other cars and skins that are preloaded with the game are fine.....just the e20 AND e90 show as black cars, skins don't seem to work. So i uninstalled and reinstalled. didn't have a chance to get any further than that just yet. Ill try to reinstall the cars again tomorrow.

ugh, what a pain in the ass....haha.

this better be worth it dandy! afro

It's got to be partial installs...check the download pages carefully, they sometimes have 1.0, then a 1.0.1 patch (which is NOT a full replacement), sometimes a full 1.1 patch on top of all that...it can get silly sometimes. Grab them off of race2play again, less goose-chasing. The selection is limited to their series, but they do have those two.

Right in the game list, organized by game name...one big drawback to the game is the lobby - there are too many servers, so many refreshes can be required. Most of my built-in cars are long gone though.

I have no idea the right way to set things up.. There's these "car filters", not sure what they do.. I set "British Gran Prix Northamptonshire" which I think is Silverstone.. I can't tell what the hell the server does - Does it just sit there waiting for someone to show up, then it starts keeping time or something? Of course, I'm stuck at work, so I can't goof around much, but I am trying to download some content for installation into the game at a later time.

Downloaded the e20 pack from race2play, installed as stated, started rfactor, choose car, its white.....go to race, its black.....wtf?

OS has nothing do do with it. RL was built to be simple, rF wasn't. Like a high-performance car, the best ones take tinkering. Try the Megane mod amped, make sure it's labelled 'full install' not 'update.' If it's still messed, reinstall rF. I really think something's been installed improperly.

Any extra skins links are extra. I'd leave them alone.

Kenners' server looks to be up and running reliably, which is great. I'm tinkering over here with server setup, can see them locally, doubt I'm getting views from the outside. Name changed to match Kenners'...L'il RLers Server DDY 1 and 2. Let me know if they ever become visible.

The problem is we have maybe forty guys, and only half that that race day in and day out.
rFactor has many many thousands and some great high level leagues.
If you want to race, rFactor is worth the trouble.
