This tread should focus on the technical aspects of the cars, their limitations and how to balance the performance for close racing.

In about one morning, I fixed a tons (TONS) of bugs and imperfections in the 3D model, resulting also in the XLR's driving capabilities. Wheelbase, minimum height, 3d wheels locations. Also, reducing a plethora of useless and unused polygons, reflecting in higher fps.

Hi folks,

I'm in the process of updating the WRC fix pack, and I'd like to make this a pre-release "party", so that I can get your opinions on the four vehicles. I've done a lot of work, making spec tire sizes for tarmac and dirt, re-doing gearings, giving the Impreza an interior and the Celica some new tarmac wheels, adjusting inertia (re-doing collision boxes because RLaddict used the built-in Charger's box!!!), etc. Tomte has been of great help tweaking the Impreza tarmac ...

Hello everybody - tout le monde

As you've seen in the GT4 specs thread, c14 and I built a GT4 Nissan 350z.

I think it's better to keep the GT4 specs thread for specs and regulations and have a separate thread for the car …

v0.3 has the same engine as v0.1, different suspensions, different swaybars. So the car is less oversteering and more stable as long as you don't floor it in bumps and turns

C14 has made a nice shadow, and I've added a 350z steering wheel …

I've also added a imaginary GT3 version, which is the one who needs testing the most, and which I'd really appreciate help with.

Just finished the development and testing of the Redline Alert tool for background monitoring of who's in the game. Unlike several other tracker tools that just refresh the page every now and then, this one makes an effort to present information nicely and basing on the list of friends' names that you enter, give you heads up when they come into multiplayer.

This initial version is all I really need myself, but I will be adding some other features to it (like Growl ...

To Do:

-possibly raise Z inertia. Tomte has suggested I do this, and I most likely will for stability/wobbliness reasons.

-several known graphic issues: new steering wheel, better seat texture/lower backrest for cockpit drivers

-perhaps lower top speed, via a shorter final drive. If studying the desert tracks is worth anything, these cars rarely reach above 100mph, it seems pointless to gear it any higher than that.

Enjoy!

I need to learn to write less, something like: here, eat this!

Nobody took it on, so I had to do it. I'm talking about the necessity to rebalance the TCC class.

At the moment we are talking about 4 cars, the RX-8, 190, Seat and the Volvo.

Don went ahead and changed the brake balance on the Volvo, which was in my eyes the only real weakness of this car. I entered the factory stats of the STCC race car, giving it less power at higher rpm. The values in the currently released version ...

This one's for you, Leo-

Here's a slightly reworked version of Dandy's Lime Rock Park. I'd like to hand it off to someone else for new skyboxes. It isn't quite done; in my laziness, I stuck some faces in front of other faces, and so there's some flickering to be seen on several buildings. I'll get to it soon..

For those who are familiar with Dandy's track, and who isn't , it should drive very much the same - the roadtypes did not change significantly.

Version 2.21 info, released 6/29/2009

-Fixed a few roadtype surfaceType mistakes (in corner 6);

-Cones along the pit lane are much less annoying (don't hit them, though)

These alterations were actually done during the time leading up to the second rumble cup; just needed to finish a couple things & get it out.

Still to do:

This folder contains a number of models that have been converted to Redline format, and they just lack a dedicated developer in order to become a plugin.

All models so far are from plugins that I found on nfsunlimited.net, and have been converted from TOCA 3 to Need for Speed: High Stakes by a person who calls himself Krystoff. With his permission, the models have ...

Brands was made long before we had the tools & knowledge we have now on track making, and I thought it deserved to have some things improved, without changing the cosmetics or overall "feel" of the track. So here's what I've done:

1) Changed the name of the mapinfo/road/roadtypes files so it will cause a dfm with the original Brands (or Alphonse's just-modified release - sorry for the work you put in Alphonse, I hope ...

Most recent physics tweaks untested, as I'm editing from work over VNC.

Looking for handling feedback vs Z06R on Silverstone, hoping for times within 1-2 seconds (likely slower). If it does that well at Silver, it should fare better on most other tracks.

Dandy sent me a high-poly Mustang GT500 model and suggested I par it down and use it to make the Mustang GT3 car.

Being a crazy 3DS model in six million pieces (and 18k triangles, for the exterior), I made my own (using the high-test model as a template).

I plan to use the same 968, again, to prepare yet another version, again, of that aging car that was never ment to be a Porsche in the first place.

Base is the 968 turbo RS, which was already racing the the German ADAC GT races beginning of the 90s. Some better tires, wings, a tad more power or torque and dropping the weight a bit might be all that is needed.

I already approached Don to be the driver, he still need to have a go before signing up.

So, obviously, from the subject, the next GT3 car (from me) is an Aston Martin.

I'm using a model that General Antilles mostly completed some time ago for some C6.R competition (in the form of a DBR9). I'm not sure whether he scratch built-it or of it's a conversion, but it's hot.

Only trouble is... it's a Vanquish, not a DB9. So: this Aston Martin RL-GT3 car is going to be a Vanquish S based car. It'll be porkier than the DBRS9, but perhaps a bit more juice (~ 600HP to haul around ...

Hey guys,

I am proud to present the Gallardo GT3 v1.1, the "Beauty update" for the v1.0.9 with a few tiny handling refinements (don't be scared !)

Note: remove the old Gallardo GT3 from your Plug-Ins folder to make sure this works. I didn't try it but the interior models may cause a conflict.

Brook being a surprisingly good detective, I guess it's time to make a separate development topic for this. This thread is for the ooh, aah, and yuck bit.

Yes, I'm making Trollstigen. In real life, it's not a place anyone would race: Too many underpowered flat-country mobile homes and packs of Japanese picture-taking tourists, too narrow road (3-5m!), and most of the year it's closed due to snow or rockslide danger. Thus, I'm a little unsure how well this idea will work inside Redline, but ...

Hi,

been thinking about improving the RL experience through improved time trials reporting. Since Legacyoflies is the meeting point for RL users, this would fit nicely under Legacyoflies' umbrella.

At current point the Ambrosia SW's Hall Of Fame has the just the basic functionality. Nothing else. I'd like to see a Hall Of Fame done properly, so that the users could actually benefit from the data.

Few improvement ideas:

I've been working on the e90, and gotten some excellent feedback -- thanks team!

Today I've gone over the car and changed a few significant specs, it's pretty much in line with the class. On paper, it's got the physics I want, but I'm unable to drive it till late tonight. If anyone wants a go at it, feel free to post your feedback. Never mind the model or skins or sound. My plan is to release a reskinned version with revamped physics, while I rework the model for the next release.
