How to get from this mess:

to this neat UV texture?

Answer: Study the technique used in the tutorial below.

I imagine this new Blender feature can open up several new texturing possibilities for Redline models.

Hello everyone. Just a technical question....I'm working on a car that weighs less than a kilo and has less than 1500w of power, with about 4nm of torque. At first my difficulty was with moments of inertia, of course, but I just had to calculate them down very low, and now they seem alright (unless they're the source of my problems right now). The engine was also a challenge, but.........I can't seem to get the tires to move the car now. They just spin helplessly. They've got their stickiness ...

I think I read somewhere, and I'm not sure where it was, that for Redline's purposes you perform this equation for wheel inertia:

32 X wheel width X wheel radius

then if it's a non-steel wheel you multiply either by 0.7 for alloy wheels, and 0.5 for carbon fiber, but I haven't found any information for aluminum wheels. I have taken this wild guess...

7.85g/cm3 for steel

2.7g/cm3 for aluminum

So the ratio for Redline would be....

2.7/7.85=0.34394904459

The cars ...

Back in the mid-90's, I tried an application from one of these MacWorld shareware CD-ROMs. This application ate memory and had poor performance (I think it was a 68k application), but it allowed me to increase my desktop resolution from 640x480 to say 1024x768. You could then navigate your extended monitor space by moving the mouse around and your view followed in either CloseView- or Zelda-style. The application had a very straight-forward name, something like "Screen Expander".

So, I'm modelling some terrain using Blender and a topographic map overlay. This is done by tracing the contour lines with a Ctrl-LMB click, creating vertices and edges along the way. Everything is going smoothly so far, but I'm beginning to see a couple of problems.

See the following image:

(This is about 1/20th of the whole thing, so it's a pretty serious task that lies ahead of me.)

Problem 1, not so important:

Each contour line that I have traced will (when done) be raised ...

Hey there,

some of us had the problem, that a process called syslogd is eating up all processor time. This makes Redline stuttering and lagging - no wonder when no cpu time is left.

You can see whether syslogd is hogging your cpu by opening "activity monitor" under "utilities" in the apps and sort the list of *all processes* by %.

If syslogd is at more than 10 percent, something is wrong, if it is at more than 95 percent, please read on.

Just my two cents - Toad left and i could not argument enough.

TimeMachine surely is a nice idea.

It backups all hours and your computer gets "even slower". Not good when checking mail takes forever...

You have backups of all times in the past until you fill up the backupdatadrive. I can easily fill up 1 TB in one month with my macbook pro with 120 GB data on it. That's is one Terrabyte. If you ...

My MacBook have a crash during a system update, bout 10 days ago. So bad that I have to back up my stuff and reinstall OSX again.

I have to reinstall all softwares too. Between them, Redline.

And what a surprise: DMG part did not put the RL app inside a Redline Folder. No plug-ins folder, nothing at all, just the RL app was there after instalation.

I try to create a new RL folder, put RL app inside plus a plug-ins folder.

None of custom tracks or cars appears ...

I really, really don't have knowledge in programming stuffs, but, perhaps, thesnail have the right knowledge and, if we will get involved GilesW (who already developed other Macintosh Games), we can start a good team to base our efforts.
